It's a 'New Day' at 'The Hamptons'

Whaaaaaat's up people. Today I announce my newest collaboration with EyeBuyDirect. They sell high quality eyeglasses and sunglasses (that can be made prescription). They have amazing styles and prices if you're a poor college student like me.

I have recommended them to several people and all of them that bought from EBD simply love their purchases. I already own 4 pairs from them, although I lost my first ones at a Steve Aoki concert back in February. If you're looking for great eyeglasses I highly recommend this website. They have a bunch of offers and shipping usually takes 2 weeks from placing order to actually receiving your pair.

All the photos were taken by a friend of mine here in Utah, you can see more of her photographs (she barely started) on Instagram. Also, you can find more of me on my IG ABrazilianAbroad.

Featured in the pictures are the frames NEW DAY and THE HAMPTONS. The latter one is their best seller as far as sunglasses go,  but they have other frames that are just amazing. I got lucky and made mine prescription as well, something I've wanted my whole life.

Outfit by me:
Stafford slim fit shirt, $14 (sale).
H&M skinny navy chinos, $25.95.
Claiborne brown shoes, $60 (JCPenney).

Enjoy the pictures and happy shopping!

Understanding the Color Wheel

EN

This post was based of the article The Color Wheel and Men's Fashion from the website RealMenRealStyle. If you want more detailed information you can visit their page. This post will be a simple way to understand better how to match color in your daily wear.

Let me remind you that there's nothing wrong with a man wearing colors! Don't stick with just basic black, white and gray (neutral colors). Be daring and start wearing colors progressively, if you don't feel comfortable wearing a bright red shirt, go for a shade of red (maybe burgundy) and once you're ready for the more daring colors, try them and see if reactions.

I have to say that people will notice you more for wearing different colors and they actually like it, especially women (if you know how to color coordinate, of course) and in this post I'll try to help you get the attention you deserve when matching colors.

First let's take a look at the color wheel.

It's important to understand the colors. RED, BLUE AND YELLOW are primary colors and are the most vivid, bright of them all. Secondary colors (Green, Orange and Violet) are made by mixing the 3 primary colors and opposite to primary colors (for example YELLOW-VIOLET). Tertiary colors are NOT shades of the primary or secondary colors, they are completely different hues. Don't ever say violet is the same color as is a blue-violet, it can matter A LOT when choosing a shirt to mix with a tie or pocket square.

A more detailed, complex color wheel is below.

Now that you have an idea of what are primary, secondary and tertiary colors are let's get to matching them up! There are 3 different kinds of matching: COMPLEMENTARY, TRIAD and ANALOGOUS colors. Let's start with complementary.

Complementary: Super simple, these colors are the ones that are directly opposite in the wheel (RED-GREEN, YELLOW-VIOLET, BLUE-ORANGE). This combination of colors will create the brightest outfit. Use it if you dare! You will see this kind of matching on people that need to stand out. You can try this by contrasting and complementing a tie with a pocket square of complementary colors with a dark suit. It's a great way to stand out and still not be too much out there.

ORANGE-BLUE

Triad: in this scheme the colors are equidistant (in the shape of a triangle). That means they are always three schemes to one side. For example: VIOLET-ORANGE-GREEN

A great example of this is Burger King's logo which is RED-YELLOW-BLUE.

Or this man

This is a good way to mix a lot of colors in an outfit and still be subtle. It is super balanced and anyone can pull off. When you see the color wheel just think of a triangle and match the colors that are indicated. If I have a RedOrange shirt that I would like wear, think of a triangle and then you get a  REDORANGE-YELLOWGREEN-BLUEVIOLET combination. Simple and easy.

Analogous: this is the most subtle of all of them. In this scheme the colors are adjacent to each other. Choose a color and jump only one color to any side and pick the next one. For example: RED-YELLOW, or BLUEGREEN-BLUEVIOLET.

Well, that's it. See if you can match colors better now and let me know in the comments. Don't forget to follow me on instagram @abrazilianabroad ! That's it! I hope you enjoyed today's post, I sure did!

Payson, UT

EN

Hey people! As many of you know I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (and yes we can dress nicely too, ok?) and a couple of weeks ago began the Payson Temple Open House, in Payson UT. So Roxanne's family invited me to go with them and I went. It was a great experience and we took some pictures there, not the best quality but it's ok. I have some other pictures that my sister-in-law took when I went there with my family, I'll post them when I get them.
Anyways, it was unexpectedly cold for a May day in Utah, it was raining and windy, so that explains the clothes I'm wearing and since I love the cold and to dress to cold weather I took the opportunity to dress well. Here's a rundown of what I'm wearing:

Eu tenho outras fotos que a minha cunhada tirou quando eu fui la com a familia, quando ela me mandar eu posto aqui. Tava um dia bem estranho para Maio aqui em Utah, tava frio, chovendo e com vento. Logan Weekend with Roxanne

This weekend I spent in Logan, Utah with my girlfriend's (Roxanne) family. It was a great time to relax and get out of the routine. Logan is about 2,5 hours north of Orem (where I live) and it's almost at the border of Utah/Idaho. We went there because one of her friends wanted to do a photo session with her, and of course I tagged along. I never miss an opportunity to get photographed, as you know. Here in these photos I'm wearing the following pieces of clothing:

Eyeglasses: EyeBuyDirect for $51.90 (everything inclusive)
Basic v-neck black tee: Forever21 for $4.
Lightweight jacket: Banana Republic for $25 (Memorial Day sale)
Super skinny ripped jeans: H&M for $34.99.

Inspirations

Hello guys. For this post I have decided to tell you from whom I get my inspiration. If you follow my instagram (@abrazilianabroad) you'll realise that I have post 2 pictures of people already. Adam Gallagher and Ryan Gosling. Well, I'll post them here again with a couple more of my fashion idols. Let's start!

I have decided to post here 6 men that I have considered to be my fashion inspiration.

The one that started it all was Ryan Gosling. Why? Well, I saw the movie "Crazy, Stupid, Love" (which I highly recommend because it has Steve Carell and Emma Stone in it). The movie plot is basically a mid 40's guy that is getting a divorce because his wife cheated on him, but not only that his sense of fashion is terrible, so Ryan Gosling (Jacob) starts helping Cal (Steve Carell) rediscover his masculinity and he does so changing the way he dresses and picks up on girls. Yes, it's an awesome movie! I saw this movie about 3 years ago (it was released in 2011) and I decided to start dressing better. Well, yea, movies can influence you for good.

Since then I have looked up to many different fashion icons to mimic their style or to have some inspiration and have my own spin on fashion. The next one that I started imitating was the already football icon, David Beckham. You can't go wrong following his style. Really, you can't. Maybe the half-tuck shirt, because that's something only he can pull off, but otherwise, you CANNOT go wrong. Just look him up, for real.

From there I started watching Zac Efron transformation into a man (thank goodness he left that horrible hair from High School Musical). Not much to say, just look him up on pinterest or any other website and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Justin Timberlake will always be one of my favourites. Especially after the 20-20 Experience album, where he is dressing really classy and sometimes dressing down but still looking classy, like the picture here.

Since I started putting pictures on my instagram about fashion, I searched for famous fashion bloggers around the globe, I found some menswear magazines and profiles, but nothing like these two that I'll mention here. They are famous for a reason, and a good reason. Most of my styles are based on these two guys. Adam Gallagher (www.iamgalla.com) and Mariano DiVaio (www.mdvstyle.com). Not much else to say except they're the best. Mariano is more famous than Adam but they are equally fashion icons for me. Go to their website, their instagram, I don't care, just take a look and start having some inspiration. If I, one day, get to be at their status I'm done with life. Really.

That's all guys, home you enjoyed this post and please comment or ask anything. See you around!

Feels like a pajama day.

Yep, I wore pajamas all day this day. But they were stylish pajamas nonetheless. Without further ado, here are the pictures.

Necklace and sweatshirt by H&M. Necklace is $12.95. Sweatshirt I got as a Christmas gift, so sorry I don't have a price.

Joggers by Carbon (found at Rue21), $20.

Tuesday, May 12, 2015

This outfit was one of my friends that asked me to do it. He found a picture online and sent it to me through Instagram and wanted to see if I could do the same. Still to this day I don't know if he was just making fun of me or if he was being serious. Oh well, it doesn't matter, the outfit is done and I like it.

Collarless White Shirt from H&M - $15.
Grey Super Slim Fit Suit by J.Ferrar (JCPenney) - $75.
Levi's 510 - $45.
Brown boots by Dr. Scholls (Burlington Coat Factory) - $40.
Watch by Fossil

This outfit is good for casual but still a little dressed up. The more dressed up top part is contrasted and balanced by the casual jeans and worn out boots. I really like this outfit and it got me a lot of compliments throughout the day.

Try it out and you'll see for yourself.

Pocket square you can find at any store and it's always around $4-$15 (the more expensive ones usually come with a bow tie or necktie)

Necklace over Shirt

What's up guys. This outfit was inspired by this picture I found on pinterest

Of course I couldn't pull it off as well as this guy, but I made my own version of this outfit. I replaced the hat with a beanie and of course the shirt. This is what I came up with:

This shirt is by Van Heusen and it was about $25. My jeans are H&M, black skinny fit. Necklace is also by H&M.

Bracelets bought from JackThreads, the buddha head one is by KingIce.

Boots are by Dr. Scholl's (bought @ Burlington Coat Factory), $40.

When I decided to dress this I was first skeptical about the necklace over the shirt with all the buttons buttoned, but it turned out to be a great attire. I have received many compliments on this outfit as far as I can remember (it's been a while that I took these photos). I have some fedoras but can't pull them off as good as I want to, so I decided to use a beanie instead and it worked just as good as a hat. This outfit will certainly get the attention of people because it's unusual to see someone dressing like this. Yes, you're a hipster if you dress like this, but be proud of it, set the trend don't follow it!

I have pin-rolled my jeans to make them look like that. To know how to pin-roll, just watch the video below.

I hope you guys liked this and gave you some inspiration on how to dress. Always stay tuned for more tips and outfits. Read you later!

Gingham All Blue

Hello these fellows, here we go again with a little inspiration for your outfit. This one I believe is more of a smart casual look for a night-out but you don't really want to wear a blazer, or it's just a little colder than usual.

Let's dig in.

Gingham shirt by J.Crew. I got this great shirt for Christmas, so I'm sorry I can't give you a precise price on that one, but you can look it up on their website.

Pants are from H&M, of course. They're skinny fit chinos. $35.

This duffle coat is by Aérospotale. I know, right? It's an amazing article of clothing that I own and the most incredible thing is that I only paid $10 on it. Yes, $10. I bought it back when I used to live in Boston, MA. I found them at the clearance part of the store and the only thing wrong with them is some holes in the pockets (which I hate using anyway so that doesn't bother me at all). Sold!

Being in college is not always that you see someone wearing a more formal attire like this one for classes. What I usually see is people wearing sweats and not caring for their appearance, but not me, I care and a lot, I always try to make a statement, always try to stand out among the crowd and it's not hard to do that. You can do that as well, just wear something that will help you stand out, like this outfit in a normal class day or just because you want to dress up a little it for the day. No specific reason, you can try different outfits every single day, see how it looks like and go for the ones that get complimented and not go for the ones you don't feel like they're good enough. I surely got a lot of compliments on this outfit by my classmates (which were all girls) like "dapper" or "stylish" or even "gentleman".

Try it out, see how you feel and let me know about it. If you need help with a accessory or what goes with what, comment and I'll be glad to answer. For now, read you later!

Kotovsk from EyeBuyDirect

To be short and simple, I always wanted round frames but was afraid that I'd look like Harry Potter, until I was looking for some glasses online and I came across EyeBuyDirect and found some really good deals and some frames that I liked.

Well, I bought these amazing frames and had them for over a year until I went to a rave and accidentally got hit in the face and my glasses were gone. But I loved those frames and couldn't believe I had lost them like that, so I went to EyeBuyDirect to try to find similar ones and what I found was much better than the ones I had before, I found the Kotovsk frame. Yes, they're amazing and I receive compliments on them on a daily basis.

So I decided to take some pictures bragging about my new babies, and of course promote my new favourite glasses store. So I came up with these pictures, always taken by the faithful Verónica.

Don't pay attention to my face but to the glasses! They are amazing looking and really well made. Lenses are perfect and cheap. If you see, it has details in brown (it looks like a leopard print but more masculine than that). Shipping took 2 weeks exactly and I wasn't disappointed.

I'm serious, if you want and/or need good eyeglasses or even prescription sunglasses (which I will be getting soon) go to this website and I promise you won't be disappointed. They are AMAZING.

Unfortunately these frames (Kotovsk) are out of stock for now, but they're coming shortly with a new collection that I bet will destroy.
